“The reigning intellectual of the evangelical movement in the U.S.”:: TIME Magazine, 2003
Willing to tackle any topic—homosexuality, alcohol, contraception—Dr. Albert Mohler challenges his audiences to examine relevant issues of the day through a moral, cultural, and biblical lens.
As president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary—the flagship school of the Southern Baptist Convention and one of the largest seminaries in the world—Dr. Mohler has, since 1993, helped shape the next generation of evangelical pastors and leaders. He is frequently tapped by media—ABC, NBC, CNN, PBS, The New York Times, and USA Today—for his insight and expertise on religious issues and culture.
His leadership in the Southern Baptist Convention—the nation’s largest Protestant denomination—has influenced policy for more than a decade. He is credited with having helped restructure the Convention’s 2000 revision of the Baptist Faith and Message.
In addition to his denominational and academic leadership, Dr. Mohler serves on the boards of several organizations including Focus on the Family—the world’s largest Christian nonprofit organization dedicated to serving, strengthening, and defending families worldwide.
In 2001 he began The Albert Mohler Program, a one-hour radio talk show devoted to engaging contemporary culture with biblical truth. Off the air, Dr. Mohler encourages constructive dialogue on today’s toughest topics via his blog.
A native of Lakeland, Florida, Dr. Mohler earned his BA degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He holds a MDiv and PhD from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
